Wellness Booths

Over 80% of Liberians are engaged in the informal economy. Leaving their daily trades to seek healthcare causes a loss of revenue and creates a barrier to care. Many people seek care at more accessible, but less standardized facilities. The Global Outreach Project has partnered with the Rotary club of Monrovia and the Wellness Foundation in Monrovia, Liberia to set up “Wellness Booths”.  These booths will be placed at community hubs to provide protocol-driven visits for a fixed set of diagnoses that contribute the most to illness and death in Liberia.

The target population for this project include citizens working in the informal sector and their families, adults living with chronic noninfectious diseases (e.g. high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes), children of informal workers, women of childbearing age.

At the Wellness Booth, the following medical service will be provided:

  • Hypertension screening, monitoring and treatment

  • Diabetes screening, monitoring and treatment

  • Diet & lifestyle counselling

  • Malaria testing, treatment and prevention services

  • Family planning services

  • Childhood development screening, and vaccination services

Our Fundraisers

At the Global Outreach Project, we are organizing multiple fundraisers to raise funds to build the Wellness Booths. In addition to raising funds, these events serve as a purpose to raise awareness of critical issues faced by our partner communities.

In March 2024, we organized our first fundraiser for the project, "Mind Over Mat(er)" yoga class in partnership with the UBC Yoga club.

In July 2024, we are set to execute our next event, Chipotle fundraiser. Stay tuned for more information!
